Drosera, commonly known as the sundews, is a large and diverse genus of carnivorous plants, with at least 243 species. These members of the family Droseraceae lure, capture, and digest insects using stalked mucilaginous glands on their leaf surfaces. The insects that are captured provide these sundews with nutrients, especially nitrogen, which is needed for the plants to grow.
