Description
Pinguicula colimensis is a perennial heterophyllous lithophytic species that produces distinct summer and winter leaves. In the winter, it produces a bulb-like winter rosette with about 25-130 spathulate to oblong-spathulate succulent leaves. The summer rosette is comprised of about 6-10 green to green-yelllow carnivorous leaves covered with sessile and stipate glandular hair. Pinguicula colimensis is among the largest of the orchid flowered butterworts and is named for the Mexican state of Colima from which the holotype was collected.
