Description
Pinguicula agnata {Jalpan de la Sierra}
A Stunning, Colorful & Robust Butterwort
Pinguicula agnata {Jalpan de la Sierra} is a magnificent Mexican butterwort that can develop absolutely breathtaking coloration under the right growing conditions.
Under strong full-spectrum lighting, the leaves can transform from green into gorgeous shades of bright red, creating an incredibly vibrant rosette that immediately commands attention.
But the color is only part of what makes this Pinguicula so special.
The “Sugar-Glazed” Look ✨🍬
During active carnivorous growth, the surface of the leaves becomes covered with countless tiny droplets of sticky mucilage used to capture small insects.
Combined with the intense red coloration, these sparkling droplets give the leaves an almost sugar-glazed, candied appearance, especially when viewed under bright light.
It seriously looks like someone sprinkled the entire plant with sugar crystals! ✨
Just remember: as beautiful as it looks, this candy bites back…at least if you're a fungus gnat. 😂🪰
