Drosophyllum is a genus of carnivorous plants containing the single species Drosophyllum lusitanicum. In appearance, it is similar to the related genus Drosera, and to the much more distantly related Byblis. The dewy pine is native only to limited areas of Portugal, Spain, and Morocco and prefers a Mediterranean climate with mild wet winters and hot dry summers. Β These stunning plants emit a strange honey smell to draw in prey and, when grown outdoors, are always encrusted with the black carcasses of foolish insects. Β They produce lovely yellow flowers.

When you receive your plant, only remove the second biodegradable pot and the protective paper that is on top. Then, place the Dewy pine (with the inner biodegradable pot) in its permanent clay pot. Dewy pines have a very sensitive root system, so be gentle when removing the tape and the protective packaging to avoid plant/root disturbance.Β
